I've been unable to upload a photo onto the previous post but here I am, or was, eleven years ago, waiting for the artichokes to come out of Lucia's oven!

A few years ago, I had an eighteen-month relationship with a very attractive Italian, who was temporarily visiting Australia. He was quite a bit younger than me but that didn't matter. He spent a Christmas with me in Cairns, north Queensland Australia and was forever telling stories about his Nonna's panettone. To surprise him and also to give him something from 'home', I made a panettone...I just about wrecked my arm through the lengthy mixing of same. On Christmas evening, as we were enjoying the panettone I'd lovingly made, my gorgeous young Italian said it was the first time he had ever had a home-made panettone! His Nonna always bought hers! He almost wore the panettone! (But I must admit I was a little thrilled that I was able to give him his very first...and probably only...home-made panettone...and it happened to be made in Australia!

Blogpower - help is on its way. I plan to transfer admin to someoe who actually knows what he's doing and he'll have you blogpowered in no time. It's Ian, of Imagined, one of the newer lads blogrolled on the site. I'm delighted.

Lee, that's a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it on my blog. I'm sure the panettone you made was delicious.
James, that's great. Do I have to do anything?
Thanks, Ellee. That's 'cos I gave up being a schoolmarm and got a new lease of life!

You were pretty 11 years ago and you're even prettier now!

And I second the title "Waiting for the Artichokes"... it's perfect.
