ONE FOR MY STUDENTS

As a follow-up to last night's post, here is one for all my lovely students. We have been working very hard since I met you all in December, but I hope we have also been doing exactly this - getting to know each other.

I think Abbey will like this, too!

[The voice of Julie Andrews is dubbed over the soundtrack, in which our dear Deborah Kerr was dubbed anyway, here. This is the clearer of the two clips that I could find. It is old, so may stop and start a little - pazienza!]

GETTING TO KNOW YOU from THE KING AND I

That's a very nice thing to post for your students, Welshcakes.

We have so much to learn about each other and language learning seems to lend itself very well to the task.

Strangely, I was thinking/dreaming of “The King and I” just last night. I must see if I can locate it on DVD.

I had forgotten how good this was, I love the expressions on the children's faces :-)

Thanks, jmb. Language learning does lend itself to this, indeed, but you can only do it where you have committed learners. [I'm thinking of the horror it can be at times in UK secondary schools.] Ciao, SSN. That is a coincidence, indeed. I loved that film. Me, too, cherrypie.

Oh what pleasure Welshcakes, one for the sentiment & two for the King & I...I have this on DVD and adore it...

I was thinking as I watched (singing along with a big smile) that we don't have 'feel good' movies anymore. I do love musicals. I think this was handed down from my father (though at the time I would moan..lol)Such beautiful costumes in this clip...& the romance (sigh)

I've been trying to collect old movies so Gabriella may come to appreciate them too.

I can't imagine my teen charges coping if I broke out with Getting To Know You...lol ... thank you Welshcakes that was beautiful and thoughtful...x

So glad you both liked it, Kyles and Abbey. Abbey, I agree - where did the "feel good" movies go?
