A WORK OF ART

I was fascinated to see this piece of sfilato - Sicilian drawn thread embroidery - in a friend's house today. It was worked by nuns.

Sfilato? Interesting art now exclusively done by machines.
From your previous pictures, I gather there are lots of British expats in your town. Are they all teachers/ex-teachers, or just retired there?

Those nuns have a lot of patience. Very nice.

Magnificent art

And also what a pleasure, with the widgets, to discover:LA PITTURA DI GINO 1-2-3-4. Colourful and very representative of the marvellous, sicilian life and scenery.

Is that a nun playing dominoes?

I think so, too, Cherie. Hi, lakeviewer. A pity so much of it is now done by machines. There aren't many British expats in Modica, but there are more in Ragusa. A lot are retired there. But nothing like the numbers in France and Spain. most have some Sicilian connection or vare employed in education. Hi, Betty. More patience than me! Glad you like it, Claudia. Gino will be delighted to learn about your comment. Glad you like it too, Lady M. Could be, WW!
